Crate for my large dog

The crate is sturdy, and the wheels is great feature for moving such a large crate. Fits my large 45kg dog very well, he can fully lie down with his legs stretched out. Very pleased with the product. Assembling was smooth process, one wheel cover keeps coming off but doesnt hinder the movement of the wheels

Disappointed by our PetJoint experience. - 48" XXL Heavy-Duty Metal Pet Cage Crate

We like the design, and the materials are a step up from the wire crates we got from the petstore which have survived three years of a dog daycare business.

However, both of the crates have significant manufacturing problems, several of which we’ll have to fix before using them. We’re disappointed as the crates had the potential to be so much better if put together well.

1, The door catches are significantly misaligned making the doors hard to secure and unable to be locked.
2, The metal pieces in the base are randomly spaced, different lengths and not welded in straight.
3, The hinges protrude beyond the metalwork. The sharp corners could potentially cause serious injury if a pet caught themselves on it.
4, The top rear hinges holding the sides are poorly riveted, not spaced correctly and in one case are badly bent.
5, Many of the mesh panels are significantly bowed and poorly welded. The roof of one of the cages doesn’t shut properly because all of the metalwork is bent.
6, One of the plastic trays supplied was dirty and has a split in the base.

With better manufacturing practices and quality control, this would have been a great product.

Metal Crate Made Well, but floor plastic plate cracked during shipping

Metal cage part is nicely made, bit too big for our dog but will not need it as much after she is done with her puppy stage. The plastic trays meant to 'catch' any waste cracked during delivery. The flooring of the crate is not ideal for our dog as she isnt in there for long enough to need to toilet, but there isnt another option for more flooring beside the metal grate. we needed to cut a piece of ply to fit in the bottom to protect her feet as she doesnt always wake up on her bed. The latch is a little bit annoying as it can be lifted the wrong way and you need to open the door slightly to reajust. My dog is quite docile and enjoys being crated, but if you had an escape artist or determined dog the locks may need to be replaced.

XXL strong crate

As I am slowly introducing my dog to this crate I can't give you a full review. I found it easy to put together, although quite heavy to manoeuvre. The main door lock does not align properly and hence I have to wriggle and lift the door to open and close the lock. I may be able to overcome this by use of something through the padlock fitting. I have no idea what the last bit of hardware was for - the little black slab-thing, as it doesn't specify it on the instructions. Neither does it tell you on the instructions which way to place the locks. I referred to ion of the crate on line and could see that that door lock doesn't align properly either!!. Apart from that I have no problems, but dog has not spend any great amount of time restricted to the crate as yet. But is a good solid crate (he wrecked his last flimsier one). Perhaps the weight of the crate could be specified on the advertisement somewhere, as it was quite difficult to manoeuvre without assistance. All in all it's a good sturdy crate and should do the job required of it. :)
