I hunted online for quite a while for the most affordable wooden dog kennel that still looked well-made. This one was the best price I could find, and while it does the job, you definitely get what you pay for.
- The (fir) wood is very lightweight and flimsy (after the first night in it, our kelpie had chewed off one of the soft wood boards surrounding the kennel door…if your dog is a chewer, be warned.
- The plastic curtain is quite heavy weight, our kelpie wouldn’t go through it so we removed it and will make a lighter flap to put there instead.
- Roof hinges are not great quality and look like they won’t last long if we use the roof regularly. Hinges pull at screws when roof is open, because of the weight.
- Every time you open the roof little grains fall off the rubber roofing membrane (not sure how long this will keep happening...?)
- the floor is a bit wobbly, especially the deck piece, as it it just laid down after the frame is built. Our dog is very hesitant when entering the kennel as the floor wobbles a bit. Took quite some coaxing to get her to go inside.
During checkout, I put in my delivery address (which was accepted). I was later contacted and told that they couldn’t deliver to me and I’d have to pick it up from the a depot or provide an alternate address. When picking up from the depot, the Aramex employee was surprisingly rude, which was kind of surprising to be honest.
Aside from these details, as I said, it does the job and was pretty cheap as far as kennels go. If I could go back, I would not purchase it again; I’d spend more money and get a sturdier one. Quality was a little worse than expected for the price - but I guess I was looking for a cheap option and I got it! So, if you're looking for a cheap option that works, but isn't great quality, this is for you!
